Picture this- a pet goldfish, not just any goldfish, though. These gold fish can be up to fifteen inches wide, or even bigger! These huge fish have been found in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
While goldfish seem like a harmless pet; they, like any other invasive species goldfish can inflict serious damage. These animals are already starting to move upstream, which is not good. Lake Tahoe has warm water, and it's shallow, sunny shores are the perfect breeding ground for these Goldfish.
Numerous attempts have been made to try and control these animals, much less eradicate them. There is something you can do, though---- you can make sure you do not place your fish in the lake.
Many people have placed fish in the lake or even leftover bait fish, too.
